Laboratory animal resources center
The laboratory animal resource center (LAR) at SPR is a service and a scientific resource center for SPR and outside researchers and scientific institutions.
LAR mission:
- To implement, follow and apply 3R's principles (Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement) in the whole process.
- To provide the highest quality in animal and veterinary care for investigators who use animals in research.
- To assist researchers to meet their goal of humane treatment of laboratory animals.
- To assist SPR in its mission of quality research in respect to the welfare of laboratory animals.
- To act as a referring center for 3R and laboratory animal science.
The ultimate goal of LAR is to allow investigators to perform the best research possible in the respect of animal welfare, while maintaining a competitive advantage to obtain research funding and while operating in compliance with national and international animal welfare laws, guidelines and regulations.
